Using just a single motor puts more strain on the controller and the motor, and believe it or not consumes more of your battery that in dual motor mode. You’re using 100% of one motor in single motor mode, but in dual motor mode each motor would using only is only 30-40% of its capability to produce that same power.
On some scooters (including the Blade), there isn’t even an option to use single motor mode.
